For years, I thought being lost meant I had wandered from my path , meandered down a side road and life had taken on the trials and teachings that presented along this particular dusty road .
Now I wonder if I had simply reached a place where there were too many paths to see the main road or the perception of a road at all.
Perhaps, somewhere upon the great Spiral, another version of me has already stood upon this path experienced the trials and teachings unique to the twists and turns.
Perhaps one time I chose courage. Another occasion fear. walked away or remained.
One travelled among the stars, while another lived an ordinary life beneath them.
I do not need to recall the exact memories, for these would be all consuming . Only the wisdom the journeys gathered and returned to the centre.
For the centre belongs to all of us. The still point .The extended frequency of all that has or ever will be and perhaps this strange tiredness we sometimes carry, the dreams we cannot explain, the longing for places we have never known and the feeling that somewhere, somehow we have done all this before are not instructions telling us where to go. But Perhaps they are echoes reminding us of something far simpler.
We are not trapped upon a single road upon which we have wandered however standing within a field of possibility and the next world does not begin somewhere beyond the stars.
It is one originating point of awareness expressing itself through innumerable experiences, with each expression believing while immersed in its particular story that it is individual and separate.
Imagine the soul not as a line travelling through successive lives, but as the still centre of an immense spiral.
Every turn of the spiral contains experience. Different worlds, choices, relationships, bodies, civilisations. Perhaps even different physical realities.
From within any particular turn, existence appears linear. There is a yesterday and tomorrow. Birth precedes death. Cause precedes consequence.
But from the centre, perhaps all of those experiences simply are and begins with the next choice.
What if consciousness carries the emotional weather of a life the waking mind cannot remember?
What if some of the feelings we cannot place belong to possibilities we cannot consciously perceive?”
What if the soul is large enough to inhabit more than one story?”
So when you find yourself lost, do not ask:
Where is my path?
Become quiet.
Listen.
And ask instead:
Which possibility am I ready to give life to in this moment ?
