Last night I had a dream . It has been a while since I had one this good .

It started with me being in a darker basement area at the markets and a natural staircase that shouldn’t have been there .

I was looking for someone when I was drawn to a dark entrance as I was going down the stairs to see where they led. Just inside the entrance was what looked like a small amber bar of soap size object which glowed with a soft golden light . I picked it up to look at it and another started glowing further into the darkness.

Okay , I thought let’s see, so I entered the darkness the only light coming from the amber bars which appeared before me as I walked .

There was no sense of time or distance only the golden lights blinking on before me . Eventually I felt a cool air flow on my face and realised also that I was getting quite warm . An opening of twighlight intensity after the nearly total darkness opened before me . It was a massive cavern which has a phosphorescent light and the distant roof looked like it’s own universe of small stars which afterwards I realised were glow worms and other creatures.

It was mesmerising. I followed a path down away from the opening towards the sound of water splashing and found a dwelling with a water wheel sitting on a stream . It reminded me of the green dragon inn at hobbit town .

A man met me there and he wasn’t surprised to see me . I asked him where I was and he said there was no name for this place at least that I would know and that I was the first visitor for a very long time . He told me he knew I was coming the moment I touched the amber light . That had been the invitation from this world and if I hadn’t seen it and picked it up then the rest of the guide stones would never had activated and the entrance would have no longer been seen .

How big is this place I asked , how many people live here . This is unknown to me he said . There are endless paths and caverns and he hadn’t strayed far from this one his whole life as there was no need . What do you eat here . Are you alone . All the questions coming quickly.

He smiled patiently at my urgent curiosity to know everything at once .

Sadly I am the last of my family he said . When I sensed the path activate I had a hope that you were my lost daughter she left many years ago to explore the outside and never returned. Still if you weren’t meant to be here you wouldn’t be , so I am great full to meet you .

Wow I thought as I remembered it had been a thought within my head that I needed to find someone that had led me to the opening .

He went on to explain that everything lived in harmony in this place his food came from mushrooms and plants which grew wild and occasionally one of the creatures would come to give him meat when it was there time and he would look after those that needed help or healing as trade for food and what else he required .

There were dangers for those that were not invited or were not in harmony with this world in the form of venomous reptiles , creatures and plants. But he had smiled and said not to worry as I had been clearly invited .

I asked him why he was alone and why others from other places hadn’t come here and he told me that everything was as it should be otherwise it would be different .

His family lineage had died out as in the past there had been migration and trade between the underworld peoples , but it had been a long time since any had come to visit and those from this place who had ventured out never returned .

So he was the last and soon he would give his nourishment back to this world and there was no sadness in that because he felt no separation , he was part of it the same as all the creatures , plants and bugs ,

I woke up with those last spoken words . But I know I can return there . It is a place worthy of dream walking .
